PD Motorlar Hakkında Döküman [İngilizce]

A lot of prospective Passat owners live in a very serious misbelief as PD elements are concerned.
This category has been created to get misunderstandings right.

In fact the bad reputation of PD elements started at the 2.0 TDI B6 Passats made in 2005.
There weren’t and there haven’t been such types of regular failures at the previous generations (Passat B5, Passat B5.5).

We also have to know that for these two generations exclusively BOSCH has manufactured the PD elements.

But at the B6 has happened the change that - for most of the two-liter-types - PD elements have been made by SIEMENS, while for all 1.9 PD-s BOSCH remained the supplier.
The regular failures exclusively happen at the PD elements manufactured by SIEMENS.
Meaning that the story is as simple as that.

Contrary to this, laymen unfortunately misjudge and bracket all PDTDI motors no matter what platform they are.

The manufacturer admitted by now this fault and - in case of each under seven-year- model - any brand service station is obliged to change the faulty PD elements made by SIEMENS free of charge.

The SIEMENS is emphasised because only at these PD elements have occurred regular failures before time.

The faulty PD elementy made by SIEMENS will be changed to CONTINENTAL which can be revealed by its item number.
For example at the 170 horsepower motors the SIEMENS item number ending in M will be changed to CONTINENTAL item number ending in T.
And it is calming if CONTINENTAL is included.
Of course the question is whether all of them have been changed or there have been left even one SIEMENS PD element…

The changes have been going on since May 2011 and we haven’t heard about any failures concerning the already changed CONTINENTAL PD elements…
